Residents in Hardin County now have easier access to screening services with a new collaboration between the Hardin County Health Department and TAN Healthcare, (Triangle Area Network). TAN Healthcare is a growing not-for-profit primary health center with locations in Beaumont, Orange and mobile sites throughout the region.

The free HIV, Hepatitis C and STD (sexually transmitted disease) screenings in Kountze will be available 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on the first and third Friday each month at the health department, 1135 Redwood. Appointments can be made by calling 409-550-1067.

“We are pleased that TAN Healthcare has stepped up to help Hardin County address this very important public health issue,” said Sharon Whitley, Director for the Hardin County Health Department. “STDs cause many health problems and medical complications, yet they are preventable. We know that improving access to testing services in our community can lead to treatment and prevent the spread of the disease.”

TAN Healthcare CEO Dena Hughes said, “Screening is the first step toward treatment. The good news is that there are more treatments today than ever before to help individuals live healthier lives and sometimes, treatments can lead to a cure. Hardin County residents with positive results can get help with diagnosis and treatment, as well as obtain the support needed on the road to recovery.” TAN Healthcare provides free HIV, Hepatitis C and STD screenings in a safe and confidential atmosphere. TAN uses standard screening methods. Standard blood draw testing can take one to two weeks to obtain results.
