The TAN Healthcare team is thrilled to announce that on October 10th, we will be hosting The Southeast Texas Health Education Conference: Do the M.A.T.H. – an Infectious Disease Update! We’re pleased to be joined by medical experts who will give area medical professionals and support service professionals the latest information on Measles, AIDS/HIV, Tuberculosis and Hepatitis A through E.

We’re eager to extend an invitation to the Southeast Texas health care community to join us for a day of learning with our dynamic group of speakers. Doctors, nurses, nursing students, respiratory therapists, counselors (LCDC – Licensed Chemical Dependency, LPC – Licensed Professional Counselors, LFC – Licensed Family Counselors), and Social Workers from across Southeast Texas will find immediate applications for our education topics in their work.

  • Joel Amundson, MD, who hails from Portland, Oregon is the President Emeritus of Boost Oregon, will provide insight into falling measles vaccination rates as well as methods for addressing fundamental barriers to childhood vaccination with “Vaccine Hesitancy: An Innovative Model for Addressing Root Causes.”
  • Shannon Schrader, MD, TAN Healthcare Medical Director, will update area providers on the state of AIDS/HIV in Southeast Texas – touching on infections rates, new leaps in treatment and prevention, as well as the prevention and care campaign, U=U (undetectable equals untransmittable) in his presentation, “An Evolution of HIV – Past, Present and Future.”
  • Patrick Ndibe, MA, Public Health Investigator Manager at the Houston Department of Health & Human Services, will share first-hand insights into innovative approaches used in managing tuberculosis in a variety of at-risk populations with his presentation, “Tuberculosis: Education, Prevention and Outreach.”
  • Netanya Utay, MD, of the McGovern Medical School UT Health is set to provide a wealth of up-to-date information on each strain of the hepatitis virus, as well as new treatments and management with her presentation, “Hepatitis A through E:  Similarities, Differences, and Management.”

This is the time for us to show the meaning and the importance of maintaining a healthy Southeast Texas. Join us in opening a dialogue with our community health care professionals, providers, and experts! Together we can be the catalyst for increasing health care for underserved and vulnerable populations in the Golden Triangle.

Dr. Joel Amundson, featured on CBS Morning News, will speak on addressing root causes of vaccine hesitancy at the SETX Health Education Conference.
